I should probably start writing more often. It seems an impossibility, all this talk about what is happening now. Therefore, I do not even try it.

Here are some insights - so to speak, the raisins (Or just for people like Christopher just NOT the raisins, but something else delicious), out of everything worth telling.

THE UNI. Yesterday we released a 13-year-old. And last week a 33-year-old with the 10th Child! I am now in a new clinic, Clínica de Barranquilla, near the city center, one of the most dangerous neighborhoods Barranquilla. And I like it much better than in San Camillo, the hospital before. The clinic is relatively large, the building was at some point pretty I think, with apricot-colored Sandsein-walls, Porches, patios with huge palm trees. But it is all very run down, thousands of people, patients lie on landings, waiting for treatment, one must constantly watch his bag, across the paint is peeling from the walls, air-conditioners including drops in established buckets, cats, 10 patients in a room, the beds more platforms, like in a really bad hostel, with no blanket, no pillow, that there are no bunk beds, is about all.

Every morning we go to the OP, look at caesarean sections, hysterectomies, and the like to, it's all terrible sterile, we stand around eight to the operating room table, almost touching it, everybody bends over the surgical field. But you learn a lot scary. The doctor shows us all exactly want everyone to see exactly how he does what everyone has to the nodes, "Come over here all that is the Tube." Or "How to sew the uterus free of tension as possible together. ". After surgery, the doctor sat down with us to tell us all again to explain exactly and budget cuts. This happens, for example, in one corner behind the shelves in the operating room on the floor. On the back of old surgical logs. There is no extra classroom or even a bar of it. Instruction is entirely improvised, but you learn an awful lot here, everyone must cooperate to make everyone must histories, make diagnoses and treatment plans work out, everyone must exercise handles, ultrasound and manual examinations of patients, knot and NAE ; learn Hen, every day someone has a presentation that is at least once a week, you can also turn itself with a presentation. I can hardly get by with learning, because I look at the whole subject even translate text needs to work but it's so interesting that not much mind.

THE CITY. Bunt. Loud. And much. A single complete chaos on the streets. Of illegal taxi race through the middle of the city at night, vorbeigeschlängelt the many potholes on flat tires and taxi rides to eight (with driver!) Directly in front of the disinterested police I've seen just about everything now . The morning trip to the clinic is one of my favorite moments of the day, because it's so scary to see and discover. Small, colorful, one-story, barred houses on the roadside, pavements high against flood (when it rains the roads are Centimeter-high in water. This can also sometimes have a car break with it), palm trees, roads that are sometimes so steep that the cars can again roll back a little to the mountain then to deal with start-up, all honking (I habs out now: Who honks first, has priority as simple as that and it works..), by the roadside stalls of fruit and vegetables or cow legs hanging in the sun, dust, rubbish, donkey carts, mopeds thousands, the crowd in an adventurous way through the cars, also vigorous honking. At the traffic lights and onto the grass verge between the carriageway people selling everything possible and impossible to the waiting cars. Peanuts, all types of fruits, mobile phone credit, candy, stuffed in bags of water, chewing gum, empanadas, fresh juices, fake watches, once a disk-cleaning. Everything. They climb to some extent even in the buses to find buyers for their worn-candy and crumbled chips.

I find my way slowly getting better, whatever that actually somewhat manageable by road network that is thanks to. All streets are numbered, Carreras run from south to north, from east to west Calles. (There are probably somewhere something like Diagonal and Transverse, but that I will not even start here.) Actually, in theory, you have so just follow the numbers and look for the right junction. The problem is that some roads simply end somewhere in a T-junction and from there, of course, be skipped in the counting or further subdivided into a, b, c is. This makes the whole thing again a bit more complicated ... is a city map does not exist. (Just as, moreover, a post office! Apparently this is here on private individuals, who, once they have collected enough letters, take their own car or a taxi to Bogota to the letters there to smash. And it costs a fortune per letter!)

THE PEOPLE. It is a wild mix of Colombian, German, French, British, Americans. The people in my group are nice, my semester also have them presented on Friday at our own welcome party staged German music and punch, both were received with great enthusiasm. On weekends we often go with Emily, Jan and a couple of Colombians to the sea for with tuasenden Colombian families to enjoy the relatively warm water, I will necessarily soon time to Cartagena and Santa Marta, but with the many weekend services and exams that will probably not first. For that I am at the weekend to dance with my group Rumba, possibly tomorrow cinema, in the weeks in September either city tour to Bogotá or in hammocks on the beach in Tayrona National Park are located. Finally, variety is essential. And the environment here is really beautiful! Flowers that draw on hard-working Germans in a bustling work with great attention to indoor plants growing size, here in huge hedges side of the road, overflowing with flowers and scents.

OTHER. Fee: 3,000 pesos equivalent to 1 Euro, and so veeery slowly I get used it to pay for a taxi ride 5000 and a cheap food 10000 and picked the correct sum of the large, colorful- siffig notes to put together.

language: it is, it will. Talk works relatively well now, understand well, as long as I'm talking to one person, but once more Coste ~ nos (the people of the coastal region) come together, they talk over each other so quickly and so that I only isolated fragments of words understand, or how to tell our dear English teacher Christina, used to set a long sausage. Today begins my English class, I hope that helps a little.

My friends, it has been signed up, you are up to date, I expect a ton of mail response and look forward to Skype, SMS, and the like. Even larger gifts such as bouquets or air conditioning are welcome.

soon, Viola.

When Does The 729000 Loan Limit End

vaolimue @ 2009-08-11T22: 38:00

It is time catch up.
I'm already almost two weeks here and Gracious reason, there is much to tell!
After several visits to the authorities, which here are by no means straightforward or unumständlicher, as in Germany, and that cost us the complete Monday and Tuesday and a Wednesday on which the university has a Welcome day was just for us (the ending is that we vortanzten 5 Germans the entire team, the Red Horse, which was more painful than after the Colombian dancers appeared on Thursday ...), I had my first Unitag. My dear godfather Ivan was really incredible (pünktlich!) 06:15 (morning) at my door, to accompany me the first time by taxi to the hospital. The catch here, namely, by 7 clock ... Meanwhile, after a 12-hour day shift on Saturday and yesterday and today I can report Uni: I'm incredibly lucky with my group. We are talking to eight, seven girls and one boy, as far as I can see all the honest very nice, slow with me, show me a lot, praise me, one from the U.S., so I in the largest change th emergency or acute loss of word in English can and they all live in my area, so we each morning with a taxi in the Travel clinic. are buses to out there, it does not, the district is very aloof, very poor, except if the main road as unpaved, and taxi driving is perfectly normal and not expensive anyway.
The university here is COMPLETELY different than in Germany, much more likely to compare with an internship, as with normal classes. I try to explain, even if I was still not quite a view:
You get the whole semester, only lessons in this 8-person group. The semester is divided into 8 Rotaciones à 2-3 weeks, 5 of which Gyn, Uro 2 and 1 general medicine. Rotación for each one is in another hospital and has a different timetable. Usually you from 7-13 in the morning and afternoon until about 16:30 Clock lessons. In each case the first theory, with presentation and query, and then practice where you work really like during the clerkship. I am currently in general practice, so for me that means, above all, patient record, ultrasound, basic research has, etc. We each morning and at noon a lecturer for one week, at the end of the week there are both a written test and at the end of an exam Rotación again treated on all subjects. What is more, we have twice a week Turno, that is 12-hour service Day or night. So I had the day off from 7-13 Clock university, that is because, at least during this Rotación is teaching only in the morning was, then later in the evening of 7 clock clock-7 in the morning and night shifts from 7 in the morning clock back university. .. Quite a lot more than in Germany ...
The hospital in which I am currently located in one of the poorest neighborhoods of Barranquilla. The latticed doors are guarded by armed men. Even the taxi ride there in the morning an experience! Thousands of people, motorbikes, horse and donkey carriages, cars and trucks on the road, in between occasional bikes, and I probably know this a forklift seen. Tracing is not little, but not easy at all respected, all wind their way past each other, like too far into the opposite lane, people get away felt a hundred times per ride very close to a frontal collision, and it is honking . Ench, you would feel you here! Horn has little to do here with a Warnsignel or a bursting rage in Germany, but all in my estimation, rather than employment or at best as a general statement: "Warning, I now get over yourself!" Be careful, I'm going through a red Traffic light, "" Be careful, it is just a new song on the radio ...".
The patients in the clinic according to the site are very poor, can not afford sometimes even the einfachsen therapies, so that a girl in my group schonmal paid a total stranger the boys (really cheap) asthma therapy. The students here are working incredibly independent, take up, investigate write prescriptions, diagnose and develop treatment plans. We are all here addressed as Doctora, I like that. :) On Saturday
should Antonella and I a little girl on a shard of glass had violated the heel stitch. I do not know if the numbness did not work properly, but casting aside the most horrible thing I've ever experienced in a hospital. I got really bad, and that does not happen so fast! The child has so gekrischen, a more than sturdy sister held her leg, and we have two under the supervision of a doctor trying with trembling hands to get the needle through the thick cornea .. Two tricks we've done, the rest did the doctor.
least as hair-raising: I have found in any single area of small hospital disinfectant! Let alone gloves or a mask. The need to bring your own everything here. After all, there is water and soap. Because the glove for transvaginal palpation examination of a pregnant woman is already sometimes moistened with water contaminated with microbes instead of gel ...
However, one must admit that it really is a very small and very poor hospital, and I'm curious how it looks in the other houses. Otherwise, I feel
me in the city very well. Everything is so colorful and alive here, all loud, all different. I find myself now a little less alone deal, after all, can already run independently for nights shopping center, find the university may own a taxi driver, and I know where WG is Bianca. I'm learning slowly about the food and the Colombian Caribbean fruit (previous favorites. Lulo This passion fruit and fresh, homemade juice! incredibly delicious, I prefer here in most cases even before the chocolate Scheuss here, moreover! ; Lich tastes just like the bread so if you want to send something or do not have Christmas gift: Send me good Milka chocolate and baking mixes;))...
Outside of my group, the vast majority of people are very friendly, my host parents are totally sweet and I also understand better and better, the other Germans and I understand only because of the German-being (not just because of this) well, I'm happy to be in the WG of Bianca (3Deutsche, 2 French), but a lot of society than here in my room, and also Emily, etc are really nice. The previous record of about 10 German, 15 French and 30 Colombians felt in the WG. Fun evening, which ended in a night-eating empanada, which I have used the word "vacío" learned (empty), because I was missing my Empanada of the cheese. My
ants ran during the road last week from my bathroom window into the infinite depths of my Sink, and was since then never seen again.
English is to some extent, I am often praised, but I could already speak bastante bien, but I have problems with above all understanding. As long as people speak slowly or with me alone, are you, but if you talk in a group or simply (as I fear) to speak and quick to urge nurnoch a few words to my central to word recognition program. But that will hopefully slowly getting better. At least I can communicate at all. :)
Two wonderful news for last: My Skype works, even with a camera, my name is vaolimue, the time difference is 7 hours, I expect calls. And secondly, I survey now about the scope of my Colombian mobile phone card: I can use a code, and extra money to call landlines and mobile phones in Germany, but I can not write SMS. But you are allowed to call me and texting, because it works that is. :)
The number is: 0057-300 874 39 22
Sun At a next time, the very best wishes go home and I'm really looking forward to answers (preferably via email or StudiVZ).

Car Insurance By Model

vaolimue @ 2009-08-03T04: 27:00

I have a small ant trail in my room, which winds its way from the front door along the wall of my bathroom and the door frame disappears. I have the first couple drowned in insect spray, the other probably has voted not really quiet ... But they are small and tidy and never really run out of its meandering streets and have closed on Sundays, so it's already ok Sun

I am there.

Barranquilla.

The trip took forever, from Thursday noon until Friday night. About Orlando and Miami. The flight to Miami was once a 19-passenger propeller-machine, no stewardess, personal instruction from the captain, how to use the appropriate fastener, 14 passengers. Everything pretty shaky, but great views of Miami. At the airport in Barranquilla

Bianca and I have picked up our Padrinos, our sponsors here. Both relatively young, 19 and 17, but I (Ivan) is really incredibly nice and funny and shows me everything here.

My host family is an old (in the case of the man very old) couple, both very nice, but somewhat difficult to understand because he mumbles and more than 30 years 3 packs of cigarettes smoked per day. But they make the effort and speak slowly with me, and it is usually somewhat with the English. I live in a room in their house that they rent to students, very well, so far without much or more strange hairy-legged animals, with private bath, large desk, television, printers and even Internet, a rocking chair and an ant trail. I have my own key and can come and go as I want. Only Ivan has forbidden me to go to 7 to get out of a house because it is already dark then .. The sun is about 6, and at 6 under. Always. Is not that really the year. Therefore, there are currently also 7 hour time difference, but in winter there are 6, because the clocks are not changed here.

far I was not really alone out there will always be escorted by Ivan and his friend Juan Camillo (the beginning I have always called Don Camillo ...^^). Emily is usually still a girl from London who lives with the son of my visiting parents. They have shown us much of the city, everything is colorful and loud, many small businesses, as well as vast western malls, many many people and animals everywhere, thousands of honking cars, taxis, many palm trees, dust, sometimes dirty and run down, partly in a beautiful colonial style.

Today we were all together on the beach at Peurto de Colombia, that is, with their shared Bianca (2 German and 2 French doctors from Mainz), Ivan, Juan and Emily, Jan (a German friend of Ivan. Even- as it should be different-very nice.) and myself. The beach itself was nice, but probably much longer any of the beautiful around here, but what was really interesting were the many Colombians who get there at weekends to relax and wallow in the sand and mud, because almost none of them can swim. Crazy, as it has lived by the sea ...!

Tomorrow is the first day of Uni'm pretty excited, not even know where is the university, but Jan brings me tomorrow morning, and he is here since March. Reports then the next time the university.

Más curiosidades:

Like all have said: The Colombians are not on time. But do not just somehow, not 10 minutes as in Germany, no, they do it with such devotion and care that they can easily come by 1 to 2 hours late.

Buses: Indescribable! But I try it. Each coach sees from different, all are incredibly colorful and shaky, it is loud music, and each can, sing with, the front with the driver is a kind of small altar set up with numerous figures and stuffed animals, banners and stickers, lots of velvet, lots of glitter, the discs (the front) are up to tiny peepholes painted on the sides frilly curtains. They are usually overcrowded, snaking through the thousands of cars and mopeds and people and donkeys on the road (right traces there is really not ..), honk a lot and fired up, and you be practical while driving to jump up and, because there are no right stops. You pay the driver front, and it also creates yet to give in to the whole honking traffic and loud music and the correct change out .. Amazing! Really an adventure in itself!

When one of the many small shops, the local water or Coke (which is red here and incredibly sweet taste (which itself is too sweet to me!)) Or other beverage purchases that you do not want to drink on the spot, fill it in plastic bags, because of the pledge. Because of the pledge ... ^ ^ To get a Straw, then you can drink from the bag. Extremely practical.

Sun I think that was the most to me, now is more important, keep your fingers crossed for the first Uniwoche, a thousand very best wishes to all and see you soon. And write me!

Uuh, you can also send me letters or packages, or packages, I just do not know how long ago the need here ... And with the host family I stay just 2 months, then I draw too .. in a WG Regardless of letters make it determined until then!
