News from the chaotic country.

It is long, there is much to tell ... I'm still in the university hospital, now in Consulta externa, which replaced here about the German medical practices. It makes many histories, all day long, and is the patient then the doctor, discuss the diagnosis, make the necessary investigations itself, it slowly comes in a routine, and I always feel safer to talk to the patient. I was even recently praised some of the doctors here, all learning is worthwhile at least. :) English is really much better, even if I do the excited exchange of breaking news of my group still does not always understand.

The clinic is relatively modern, but there are some really huge differences, in contrast to Germany! For example, the doctors. Favorite example: Dra. Marrugo. Bruja. Witch. A figure of fun without a neck. Ca. 45. About half as tall as I am. Hair color so that them in neat red-brown-black-yellow stripes on their heads are hung directly on the shoulders. Glued eyelashes (!), So make-up that her eyes never really aufbekommt (unless they want something from you, then they tear them up so far that one gets a real fright), clearly operated nose ( do it here but really many other cosmetic surgery ....), Stöckelschühchen and short dresses, silver handbags, sunglasses in your hair, and arrogant to the last of her long red fingernails. Yes, I imagine the ideal image of a physician before ...

I live now in the dream villa. From my balcony you can on the horizon of the sea: see (I repeat the Caribbean!). We have a pool. We have our own cleaning lady. From our roof, one can see large parts of the city (this one must, however, only the really rusty and climb also highly nurnoch some existing ladder to the roof). And we will not even pay € 170 a month. :) It's absolutely brilliant! I enjoy it so that more and who is there, either Emily, with whom I am living in a room, or the crazy French, Brazilian, Dani, who has an incredibly infectious laugh, the Germans Sarah, in an NPI ; llig another world living Tjark (which is a looks bit like Otto ..) and Christian, which allows you to look good at the pool with a cool beer in hand Stromberg, or our ever-stoned owner Alberto, who now lives with his handbag-sized dog here . Learn even works quite well here, although I have since discovered, of course, also the clinic-Bib for me .. ;) Legendary and now apparently known in the entire university, our pool parties, where Alberto in the state of his bottomless delirium but now wants to put a stop to. We will see ...

Last weekend I, along with Hannah and many many Colombians in Palenque, a tiny, secluded, Afro-Colombian village, a kind festival. Even the outward journey was amazing, a bus filled (camping nothing there!) With loud singing and hotly disputing Colombians, some rocking chairs and a disassembled, wooden bed. The village itself was very poor, the streets dirty and muddy, the houses small and colorful, have no running water (the next morning with the women of the village bathed in the creek and help us with discarded water Hardhat poured over the head), but at least electricity, and people all at an astonishing and contagious way happy. The people we have met there, especially photographers, were so completely different from the doctors, a lot of fun, and that was certainly not the last time that we have done what you are! I felt like a documentary, both of us the only Germans, we stayed with a family on the floor the next morning got a traditional meal, have been cooked, properly integrated, and I'm so so many photos taken! Truly a unique experience! (The girl from the university were totally shocked when they learned that we went there , and downright shocked that it took us to like them too. They have a very strange relationship with their country, or at least to those parts of the country that are not just a USA copy in the form of Buena Vista and co ...).

Otherwise, there are in my daily life is not much new, I'm learning a lot and am almost always in the university (the many free hours I have made to the female table tennis champion of my semester! Me! As you can see me, how bad the people here play!), but this is the semester only a few weeks, then I have vacation! Thus remain to tell a few little things that do not fit into a text, but still tells necessarily belong.

DETAILS.

now I'm here soon three months, and although it seems impossible, since I get used to the strangest things ... For example, during my morning bus ride to the hospital. I like these ¾ hour rather like the sun rising grade, wind, it is not so hot, music, and thousands of things you can watch outside. The chaos begins when waiting for the bus. At the intersection where I always wait, is a 2 - to 4 - lane (who knows that for sure?) Road in the curve together to form a track. Opposite lane? No matter. Reverse gear? No matter. Cross standing cars? No matter. The main thing honking. Quite surprisingly, I have been there but never seen an accident!

are at regular intervals as roadside Buszeitableser those whose job it is to write down exactly when each bus is driven past this location. Who is the faster from one to the next point, you get a bonus. Thus, the driving style of the driver is not much improved and it always comes back to real sprint just before the next time consumption point.

Streets there is the strangest fellow, crooked taxi (the rear axle is much higher than the front. If its really good for shock absorption during heavy loads. Mag. but simply looks stupid. especially when front of it ...), people sitting donkey and horse carts, loaded with everything possible and the impossible, chicken cages from all over the house stands, greens and brick to the regularly ig deliver on the highway around the city proper race cars, hardly recognizable as such, huge trucks (which can be incredibly intimidating horns) the wobbly, colorful buses with no doors and small, colorful, wooden mom and pop shops on wheels, buy and sell all kinds of traders and partly across the busy street , e be pushed. The bus ride takes you past thousands of one-room houses, flat, run down, tiny, but each painted a different color, the house walls and the curbs painted with any advertising, a lot of trash and dust and many free-running dogs, but also a lot of green, past the billboards with tiny holes in it (presumably against the wind. reminds me However, it always strong to the thousands of bullet holes a shotgun ...), people everywhere on the road country small cars that sell every imaginable fruit varieties, past the big football stadium, which in my eyes However, much more like a giant monster with tentacles is similar, and - most important - the trail leads along winding roads (in a city where virtually all roads are built square, a road curves right with happiness in a trigger!). Also

the cat that slinks through the house regularly and I preferred the morning in the shower, lying in wait, I have become accustomed. Just like the many many tiny salamanders everywhere.

- What bothers me is still a little bit, is the unreliability of the Colombians. You have to actually wait for the regular 1-2 hours Doctora, exams are constantly shifted, ALL are ALWAYS late. This could be due to the fact that here all run so terribly slow.
- Almost no one here knows filler, let alone ink eraser. Half the library was gathered around my table, and how the little children they are absolutely fascinated by another to the bar painted in their notebooks, only wegzukillern to him and then with the other pin override. Crazy ..
- The ideas of fashion but here are very different from Germany. We had recently a 30 year old female who presented us with a beaming smile, a silver crown with punched heart shape on one of her front teeth.
- I miss the cold! I know you think I'm crazy, but who thinks at 30 ° C, but it was surprisingly cool and you could actually just thought about pulling a sweater, was clearly too long in a hot place!
- paper here has a different format. Although it is just as wide but a bit longer than A4 paper. Unfortunately, this format fits in nicely in a folder, not even the ones you can buy here ...

It's all just a bit different and all a bit more chaotic than in Germany ... But I like it. :)

left to say that of course I often think of you and me every now and then imagine now in the cold, cozy Mainz to be. I even now hung up in my room a few photos, and believe me, there is not spared ... ;)

Dear friends, I'm going to sleep now, pictures in the next few days, I'm looking forward to answers and hope, of course, above all, to all medical practitioners with highly memorable and solemn entry into the new semester Thursday! See you soon. Viola.
